This week we are joined by David & Lisa from Room Escape Artist! They sit down with us to chat about Escape Rooms, what makes them great, and what good rooms do to engage all the players throughout the whole experience. We also chat about the expanding world of “Escape Rooms in a Box” where the thrill of Escape Rooms are recreated in your own home.
Stefan is joined by the megagame team and special guest Scott Silsbe, founder at Liveware Lab to talk about large-scale game design. We talk about some of the challenges to consider when playing a game with a bunch of people and discuss Scott and Mike’s new game ExpoQuest!
We can hardly believe it, but the campaign closed at nearly $165,000– that’s 550% of the original goal!! Your donations to Facing Hunger are going to impact thousands of individuals and families in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. That’s really, truly, wonderful, and we’re so, so glad that this donation is going to such a fundamentally important cause.
This project wouldn’t be possible without several thousand wonderful people, so here goes:
To our 6,000+ donors, and to everyone who applied, supported, promoted, and talked this project up online and in person; to the TAZ fan communities on reddit, facebook, tumblr, & twitter, and to everyone who shares their own thoughts and wonderful TAZ fanworks on all those platforms: thank you all so, so very much. This project couldn’t have happened without you, and it wouldn’t have been nearly as successful without how devoted you’ve all been to pushing it forward– thank you so, so much! You’re what makes this fandom amazing. You’re an amazing community, and we’re so happy to be a part of it.
To Daniel Solis for your excellent layout and design work, to Justin Gray for the fantastic campaign graphics, to Dani Barstad for your cover of Deja Vu in our campaign video, and to Stuart WellingtonandDan McCoy for your foreword drawings: thank you! It’s the details like yours that made this campaign (and will make this book!) stand out.
To the MaxFun network, for giving us the green light on this ambitious fan project, and for hosting so many fantastic, fun shows- thank you!
To the Generosity funding platform & staff, for running an amazing no-fee service that allowed us to maximize the amount of the donation to Facing Hunger and get the funds directly into their hands: thank you!
To the team atFacing Hunger, huge thanks for your tireless good work, patience, and logistical know-how! All of us are so, so glad and honored to be able to put this donation into the care of an organization that’s going to do so much good with it.
On that note, the campaign is over, but you can always donate to Facing Hunger through their website! You can also use Charity Navigator to learn more about similar food bank organizations and other charities in your own area and find out how you can contribute to those!
All of the artists featured in the book, for your generosity, patience, selfless devotion of time, and willingness to put up with our near-constant email barrage – thank you! Your work is this book!! We love it all to pieces, and we can’t wait to share it all with everyone who donated to this campaign. So thank you from the bottom of our hearts to all of you:
And finally, to Griffin, Justin, Travis, and ClintMcElroy: thank you for your
gracious willingness to let us put together a book about your fictional world and all its fantastic inhabitants, for thinking of Facing Hunger and connecting us with
that amazing organization, for your kindness, support, and promotion
throughout this project despite impossibly busy schedules, and for making the kind, thoughtful, funny, and brilliant showthat inspired it all.
Our next step is to complete book layout, which will be done by mid-October- then it’s off to the printers and prep for PDF distribution in November! (Even the vaguest thoughts about a hopeful Volume 2 are gonna have to wait until Volume 1 is for-real completely and totally finished!) We’ll keep you updated here and on twitter, so stay tuned for notes about fulfillment progress. We can’t wait to get these books into your hands!
Happy to be a part of such a wonderful project! If you’re not listening to The Adventure Zone, WHAT ARE YOU DOING! Get thee to a podcast distributor and listen now!
We’re back! We’re wrapping up summer talking about what we played on our summer hiatus. That’s right, a whole episode that’s only Plays of the Week. Mike could barely contain himself. We talk Scythe, Food Chain Magnate, Liberty or Death and of course a few video games like Don’t Starve and Pokemon Go.
The time is near! TI6, The International DotA 2 Championships is coming to a close and the tournament has already thrown many surprises at e-sports followers. For those who aren’t in the know we sit down with our e-sports correspondent, Raphael Diangkinay to discuss What makes The International so prolific and how to understand what in the world is going on.
Happy 4th of July Everyone! We thought it fitting on the day of our independence to have a short chat about our new American Revolution Megagame, The World Turned Upside Down! Expect a lot of Hamilton chat on this one too!
